Amish Knitting Basket

An amish knitting basket is an excellent place to store your knitting materials and supplies. It features a lid on one side that allows the yarn to be pulled through without tangling or getting messy. The basket has a handle on the other side as well that makes it easy to carry around.

Amish Baskets and Beyond Oak Oval Knitting-Sewing

This amish knitting basket has a solid oak base with a wood reed bottom and leather loop handles. It also has a wooden lid with a woven reed handle that is attached to the top.

It measures approximately 8.5″ wide by 11″ tall and 9″ in diameter. It comes in a natural color with accent colors of blue, green, red or black.

You can find these beautiful baskets at many local Amish gift shops, roadside stands and small country gift shops. They are crafted by families working together.

The Byler Family from Lamoni, IA is a wonderful family that makes these baskets. Their love for their work is evident in each and every basket that they make. They are very detailed and careful in what they do.

They hand cut the basket bases with a saw, do all the finishing work and staining. Their children and grandchildren also help with the weaving as well which is heartwarming to watch.

Gingerich Amish Baskets carries a variety of baskets from seven different Amish families. They sell everything from small waste baskets to large laundry and berry baskets. They also have a wide range of loom woven rugs, potholders, trivets and aprons. All of their products are made in southern Iowa or just over the border in northern Missouri.
