Weiss Distillery in Clawson, Michigan
Weiss distillery has been transforming its tasting room into a winter wonderland. The new season will offer an ode to winter in Michigan. Guests will have access to snowy walls, sheer fabrics, and giant nutcrackers. It will also feature a plethora of white and blue flowers.
The distillery’s tasting room has been open for about 10 months. In November, the distillery rebranded itself as a “grown-up winter wonderland” and redesigned the tasting room to match. They are also releasing winter-themed cocktails.
Their Roggenaer Special Reserve Gin is full of herby presence. It is made using 100 malt wine and distilled twice, with a generous rye character. This is a great example of the style.

The couple behind the venture have had coffee shops in Clawson since 2012 and started roasting coffee beans. A few years later, they met Trevor Graham and formed a partnership. Now, they’re setting up shop in a multi-building complex at 24-34 E. 14 Mile Rd. Eventually, they plan to make bourbon, vodka, and gin.
They’ve received approval on a revised site plan and expect to begin construction on a new building before the end of the year. Currently, the distillery makes most of its spirits locally. However, they are looking to expand into distribution.
